About The Book

“Bamboonomics : The Tall Grass Comes of Age”

Bamboonomics is an attempt to unleash its potential and obliterate this siege within.

Bamboonomics is a novel concept that represents an entire gamut of ideas for innovative and eco-friendly natural resource base development by value addition to the products that are in demand. It predominantly deals with bamboo and its products as a major income source but also covers an entire array of products and their eco processing in a gainful manner. It isn’t rhetoric of another economic theory that typicallyfocuses on deciphering the reasons and explanations. The theory proposes using local resources, bringing effective technologies, and following prudent marketing strategies without compromising the entrepreneurial income of the poor in the name of green eco-development.

My research study “Bamboonomics: Aspirations in the Bamboo Regime” provides a roadmap for TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India) to enter the bamboo industry uniquely. With their vast network among the tribal community, TRIFED is using this plan to engage millions of tribals to use bamboo and aiming at new value-added products that havea demand in the market. While providing new employment opportunities, the policy remains in sync with sustainable development goals and addresses concerns about climate change. Bamboonomics can break the grip of the Chinese and Vietnamese raw materials on the Indian incense stick industry and thus help in reviving not only the existing industries but also lead to the emergence of new industries such as that of bamboo charcoal, activated bamboo charcoal, bamboo fiber etc. to name a few. I have provided ways to implement all of these in my book “Bamboonomics: The Tall Grass Comes of Age”.
